Giddy’s Place PADI Dive Resort is a hotel built from our ancestral home in the small quaint fishing town of Donsol, Philippines. In the center of town, our Donsol resort was created with you in mind. Access and transportation are convenient to whale shark interaction ("butanding" in Tagalog), night firefly tour, manta ray scuba diving, night shrimp catching, river kayaking, and other activities.
We encourage you to talk to us, hang out with us, and challenge us. Let us know how we can make your present and future visits even better. Our manager, Raymond, and our supervisor, Nelson, or any other staff, would be more than happy to chat. The resort dog, Bruce, would be delighted to hang out with you. |

Whale Shark Interaction (Half Day):
Donsol, also known as the Whale Shark Capital of the world, has the largest recorded number of regular whaleshark sightings worldwide. Initially "discovered" by the international community in 1998, the whale sharks return between November to June every year and is the most popular ecotourism activity in the Philippines. In early 2009, WWF recorded two instances of two distinct baby whale sharks measuring less than 3 feet caught and set free in Donsol. This is the only such documented sighting worldwide of baby whalesharks making the town a possible breeding ground for these gentle giants.
What does Giddy's provide? We can pre-book and pre-register you as well as provide you transfers, snorkeling gear and snacks.
Scuba Diving (Full Day):
Dive at the Manta Bowl and San Miguel Island, two popular sites in the region. Manta Bowl is the only dive site in Philippines where Manta Rays are regularly seen. Equipment can be rented from Giddy's. We can set up transportation. Contact us if you are interested.
Kayaking (minimum 2 hours):
With the serene rivers of Donsol's Ogod River, Kayaking is a perfect activity for relaxation or spending time with friends and family. In this spirit, Giddy's has three 2-seater kayaks. Feeling friendly? Welcoming fish pond owners provide hidden pit stops in Ogod river. Chat with them, appreciate their lifestyle, and buy some seafood for us to cook at the Butanding Restaurant (but ask us in advance if possible for that day).
What does Giddy's provide? We provide transfers and a kayak partner/guide if needed. A seafood lunch or native snack at the jumpoff point overlooking the river can be arranged before or after your activity.
Ticao Boat Tour (full day):
Snorkel, soak and explore the waterfalls and caves of nearby islands.
Mayon Volcano and Albay City Tour (half day to full day):
Mayon Volcano has been touted as the world's most perfect cone volcano. Explore Mayon and the Cagsawa Church Ruins. Ride the zip line at Lignon Hills and explore other Albay Sites.
San Benon Hot Springs (full day):
Soak in the natural hot springs from the Bulusan Volcano in Irosin, Sorsogon.
Firefly Tour:
The Philippines is one of the three Asian countries where this tour is available. A night time river cruise in Donsol's Ogod River provides you a unique and unforgettable experience. Enjoyed by both the young and the young at heart, this tour is one of the unique tours available all year round. A dinner before or after the tour can be arranged at the jump off point.
Sudsod Night Shrimp Catching:
Interested in participating in local culture? Try this night activity with the local sudsod fishermen and learn first-hand how some of the Donsolanos make their living catching shrimp.
Nightlife:
Have the need to hang out? We recommend checking out our very own Butanding Bar on the ground floor. Want to see the stars while lounging? Then enjoy a drink on Giddy's roof deck. Dedicated to fun at night, we stay open until 1 am, well-past the usual 8 pm neighborhood venue closing time. Want to hang out with locals? Ask us about Shanley's and other locales. |
