Parque del Lago Hotel Vivo is a Costa Rican family owned business, and since it{s opening in 1994, decided to differentiate from mainstream hotels by presenting exactly what defines Costa Rica And ticos: nature, life, friendliness in an atmosphere of well being and peace; the best of Costa Rican tradition with the conveniences of today. The "Pura Vida" concept.
We make an effort to reflect, present and contribute within a philosophy of human development an anthropological vision of the costarricans and the costarrican "flavor" as we recognize it within a hotel enterprise, in the service and management in an effort to rescue, investigate, present, promote and develop considering our cultural, social and psychological characteristics.
In trying to contribute with this big effort, we have taken elements from 3 recognized concepts and systems, that provide instrumental possibilities to our philosophy:
1-From the Museums... those elements of investigation, collection, conservation, and exposition of elements of our country´s heritage & tradition.
2-From Quality... ISO System, those that allow us to create and follow a system and philosophy on the effort and possibilities of human talent and that of capacity building, accompanying this effort with numerous seminars and workshops on different topics.
3-Sustainability and Social Responsibility... its structure and diagram of the different elements (human and non human) that interact in any society in order to achieve a better way of living to those participating and the conservation of finite resources, within the knowledge of infinite life. |

ICONOS Sabor -Saber, vital component of the Pura Vida concept, is represented through our food Recipes reflecting the traditions, history and culture of San José with a hint of other Latin-American and European flavors, which as our in our culture, have been blended in a very unique way.
Parque del Lago's newly renovated Iconos Restaurant offers a fresh, contemporary atmosphere with non-pretentious, honest international food, spiced with certain trademarks of Costa Rican cuisine such as Gallo Pinto or Casado. Great starters are our Spanish Omelets and Teriyaki Chicken Strips, while our Sirloin Medallions served with a spicy green pepper sauce are a highly recommendable main course. And because life wouldn't be anything without sweets, try our lovely Passion Fruit Mousse.
Every morning enjoy the generous breakfast buffet, offering Latin American and international favorites.
Lunch is served buffet style offering a salad bar, soup of the day and the choice of two main courses. Don't forget our scrumptious desserts accompanied by a steamy Cappuccino or Espresso.

San Jose has a large selection of year-round cultural events, commendable museums and theaters as well as a small, but attractive entertainment scene.
Both the National Theater and the Melico Salazar present year-round concerts, ballets, and operas. Many small theaters in downtown San Jose also feature amusing plays, portraying the idiosyncrasies of the Costa Rican culture. However, command of the Spanish language is a must.
San Jose's "must see" museums are the National Museum, housed in the imposing Bellavista fortress (1887), showcasing a comprehensive natural and cultural history of Costa Rica. Westwards, heading towards the National Theater, is the underground Gold Museum displaying an impressive collection of Pre-Columbian gold. Hidden on the 11th floor of the National Insurance Building is the Jade Museum exhibiting amazingly crafted jade pieces as well as describing the intricate story of Costa Rica's pre-Columbian civilizations.
While small, the San Jose nightlife and entertainment scene offers a little bit of everything, catering to everyone's needs.
Soccer, as in all Latin American countries, runs through the blood of the people. If you happen to be here for soccer match, whether it's the first division teams or the national team, you are assured to have an exciting evening, full of cheers and lots of beers. |
